Eyelash extensions are semi-permanent and an amazing way to wake up looking fresh & beautiful! With proper after care, they can last up to 4 weeks and require fills every 2-3 weeks depending on the shedding cycle of your natural lashes.

Before your appointment:

If you are a new client, please arrive with no eye makeup on. This includes eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara. If you wear contacts, please remove them. Be aware that the appointment requires you to be lying down and with your eyes shut. Andria will have a consultation with you and go over the process before starting.

After your appointment:

For best results, it is important to not get your extensions wet for the first 12-24 hours. The glue needs this time to fully cure & adhere to your natural lashes. After that time period, you can resume your regular routine as long as it does not interfere with proper after care. Follow the after care instructions below to see the best results! Ask Andria any questions or concerns.

A F T E R C A R E

  • For the first 12-24 hours, avoid getting your extensions wet and avoid saunas, hot yoga, and swimming

  • Fills should be done every 2-3 weeks to keep your desired look

  • About 2-3 natural eyelashes shed every day (with an extension attached). This is NOT caused by your extensions, it has to do with the growth cycle of your hair. Once an eyelash falls out, a new one is growing in its place. When getting a fill, extensions are put on the new natural eyelashes that have grown in since your last session

  • Avoid all oil products in your orbital area. Oils cause the bond of the glue to break down and will lead to shorter retention

  • You should not use eyelash curlers or mascara (you don’t need it) but if you do choose to wear mascara, it should NOT be waterproof and apply it only to the ends, never the root. Tip: if you feel the need to wear mascara, you probably should book a fill instead!

  • Avoid sleep masks or sleeping with your head in the pillow. Tip: if you notice more eyelashes shedding on one eye than the other, it is probably from sleeping on that side

  • If you notice your lashes looking out of place, use a clean disposable mascara wand to lightly brush them from the top, at the ends. Do not harshly brush them near the root, it can cause you to pull lashes out

  • Do not rub. scrub, or pull out your lashes. This can cause damage to your natural eyelashes. If you want your extensions removed, make an appointment for a removal so it can be done safely

  • Be sure to wash your lashes 1-3 times a week depending on how much makeup you wear on a daily basis. You want to keep them as clean as possible. It will lead to better retention and overall lash health. Tip: use baby shampoo to lather and lightly use a back and forth motion along your lash line. Lash cleanser can be ordered through me if desired!

F A Q

  • Q: Will I have no lashes if I decide to take off the extensions?

  • A: Absolutely not! Commonly your lashes may appear “shorter” for a short period of time as they had extra weight on them. But rest assured, after a week or two they will be back to normal. Keep in mind, you were also used to having dark, curled, long lashes with the extensions. So going back to your natural lashes seems even more drastic.

  • Q: Can I not get my lashes wet, like ever?

  • A: Absolutely not! It is actually encouraged to cleanse your lashes 1-2 times per week depending on how much eye makeup you wear on a regular basis. Definitely a good idea to wash them after using eye shadow or eyeliner. An easy accessible cleanser is baby shampoo, or I can order you a lash cleanser.

  • Q: My lashes seem to shed quickly. Why is that?

  • A: There are a number of factors that go into premature shedding:

    • A common one is actually that you don’t cleanse your lashes enough. Wearing makeup daily (as most of us do) causes buildup on your lash line, and if you aren’t cleansing it away, it actually causes your lashes to shed faster. It is super important to cleanse the day before or day of your fill appointment. If you have existing buildup on your lashes, the glue is actually sticking to that instead of your actual natural lash. So when the gunk is eventually gone, so is the extension.

    • If you are exposed to heat such as sauna, hot yoga, or even in the summer being at the beach frequently can cause more shedding.

    • Swimming frequently in salt water or chlorine can also cause this.

    • Over-brushing your lashes can cause your lashes to be disrupted, so only brush if needed!

    • Using oil or oil based products on or around your eyes can cause the glue to weaken over time. Check your eye cream & moisturizers to make sure everything is oil free. If you really love it & it contains oil, just be sure to stay away from the eye area.

    • Some people’s lash cycles just happen faster than others. Unfortunately there is no way to tell until you actually have extensions, so you may just need to book lash fills more frequently.

  • Q: I find that I need a fill every 2 weeks, but the upkeep is a lot for me. What should I do?

  • A: Honestly, lash extensions aren’t for everyone! Because your natural lashes are shedding in cycles constantly, fills are required every 2-3 weeks. Everyone is different- some people can wait longer, some can’t. Extensions are a commitment, so if you find the upkeep is too much, they might be something you only get for special occasions or vacations.

  • Q: How do I know when do get a lash fill if I am a new client?

  • A: The rule of thumb is every 2-3 weeks. Another way to tell that you need a fill is if your lashes look 50% less full than when you came last. You should never have 5 lashes on your eye when coming for a fill - because that is considered a full set!

  • Q: How do I cleanse my lashes?

  • A: Using a lash cleanser or baby shampoo, lightly rub above your lash line in a gentle back and forth motion. You can also go down onto your lashes. Do not scrub!
